Position Summary Under the direct supervision of the Director of Strategic Communications, the Marketing Copywriter serves as a copywriter for UCLA Extension’s marketing collateral.
This position is a critical component of the communications team, working closely with the Creative Director and the Marketing Managers in creating/drafting original copy for institutional marketing and advertising campaigns, and other projects. This role is responsible for generating advertising concepts and writing effective and compelling material that reflects the “UCLA Extension”-brand in alignment with the institutional strategies and priorities.
Other duties may include serving as editor and proofreader for quarterly course offerings, print materials, web ads, digital banners, news, web, magazine, and email copy. The Marketing Copywriter is expected to work both within a team as well as independently, exercising a professional demeanor, creativity, original thought, excellent writing skills, and editorial judgment. A high degree of collaboration is expected.
Ability to think creatively and critically; prioritize workload efficiently in the face of competing deadlines and fluctuating priorities; effectively work with a team in a fast-paced setting with a positive, can-do attitude. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range.
Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common.

Qualifications 2 years Minimum of professional experience writing copy for brochures, advertisements, emails, and other promotional materials. (Required) Ability to collaborate and follow the guidance of senior staff while working independently to meet deadlines. (Required) Knowledge of best practices in marketing and advertising. (Required) Excellent communication skills.
Superior knowledge of interpersonal and written communications. (Required) Able to write clear, concise copy-to-word specifications. (Required) Organizational skills and skills in file creation, maintenance, and management. (Required) Knowledge of AP style and campus style guidelines is desired, but not required. (Preferred) Multilingual communications are desired, but not required. (Preferred) Solid knowledge of UNEX course/certificate offerings and services. (Preferred) Knowledge of the UNEX achievements, mission, vision, goals, objectives, and infrastructure. (Preferred) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor’s Degree Bachelor’s degree or professional certificate in marketing, advertising, or similar field, and / or equivalent combination of training and experience. (Required) Special Conditions for Employment Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
