, The Marketing Specialist serves as an advisor to departments and stakeholders in the Office of Student Life to design, develop and implement marketing programs. This includes developing strategies that support Student Life operations, programs, services and departments, serving as a primary marketing point of contact for designated departments, and consulting on marketing strategies.
The Marketing Specialist also plans and implements marketing plans to meet strategic goals, reach target audiences, raise awareness and ensure alignment with university branding. Tracks and monitors marketing projects to ensure timely and effective completion and success; consults with design/creative team when necessary.
Plans and coordinates marketing material and ideas to meet goals, educate and communicate departmental offerings. Educates support areas on university and Student Life branding standards.
Manages departmental calendar to ensure programs and events are communicated and effectively promoted. Identifies necessary updates for websites.
This role requires general industry knowledge and professional experience in the application of marketing and communications concepts, principals, and technical capabilities to perform varied tasks. Works on marketing projects of moderate scope and complexity, and applies judgment within defined parameters.
Receives general guidance and may receive more detailed instruction on new projects. Work is reviewed for sound reasoning and accuracy.
Essential Responsibilities: 30% Reviews existing and creates new marketing plans that align with university and Student Life values and strategic areas of focus; works with creative/ design team to coordinates development of new and updates to existing promotional material (signage, brochures, posters, web content, etc.) 25% Consults with support department leadership to create or revise marketing plans to meet strategic and other goals; works with support department leadership to identify and develop new opportunities; makes recommendations to departmental leadership on direction for key initiatives, opportunities and overall marketing strategies; works with creative/design team to generate new ideas that will meet established goals. 25% Strategically supports the daily operations of the support areas; anticipates future needs of areas based on program and event calendar; manages marketing projects and timelines for areas of support; identifies potential issues or setbacks with projects and/or timelines to proactively create solutions and communicates changes to departments 15% Evaluates success of marketing initiatives through qualitative and quantitative analysis and surveys; proactively monitors benchmark organizations to improve marketing mix and promotional efforts and stay current on trends; conducts customer research in collaboration with Center for the Study of Student Life 5% General support of Student Life initiatives; other duties as assigned Qualifications Required: Bachelors degree in marketing or related field or equivalent experience 2 years of relevant marketing and communications experience client management experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills Desired: At least 2-4 years of relevant marketing and communications experience Experience supporting student programming and events Experience with strategic and long-range planning Higher education experience The pay range for this job profile is $49,800 – $66,400. Offers will be made within this range based on candidate qualifications, internal equity and available budget.
